The Ishan Uday Scholarship is a UGC initiative to support students from India’s North-Eastern Region (NER). It provides financial assistance of ₹5,400–₹7,800 per month to eligible undergraduate students. The goal is to promote higher education and increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio in the NER.

  2. Income Limit: Annual family income not exceeding ₹4.5 lakh.
  3. Education:
    • Passed Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognized board within the NER region.
    • Admitted to 1st year of an undergraduate degree (or integrated UG) in a UGC-recognized regular/full-time course.
    • Open/distance/correspondence/private/management‑quota or diploma students are not eligible.
  4. Other Exclusions:
    • Already availing another scholarship.
    • Transgender students are eligible.
  • General Degree Courses (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com): ₹5,400 per month (for 10 months).
  • Technical/Professional/Medical Courses (B.Tech, MBBS, etc.): ₹7,800 per month (for 10 months).
  • Total Slots: 10,000 fresh scholarships awarded annually.
  1. Merit-based within each state: Based on Class 12 marks among eligible applicants.
  2. Tie-breakers: Apply Class 10 marks; if still tied, elder candidate preferred.
  3. State quota distribution: Slots allocated per state by population; leftover slots are reallocated to other states.
    PwD reservation applies per government norms.
  • Duration: Payable for the full duration of the UG course (for integrated programs, only UG part).
  • Conditions:
    • Maintain regular attendance, good conduct, and satisfactory academic progress.
    • Renewal each year through NSP (after clearing the previous year).
    • No change in course or institution allowed—doing so disqualifies you.
  • Generally opens mid‑year (varying annually via NSP).
  • For example, 2024 cycle: applications from 25 July to 31 October; last verifications by 15 November.
