3. Educational Qualification (Branch-wise)

Executive Branch:

  • General Service (GS/X): BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
  • Air Traffic Controller (ATC): BE/B.Tech in any discipline with 60% marks, with Physics and Maths in 10+2.
  • Naval Air Operations Officer: BE/B.Tech with 60% marks and 10+2 with Physics & Maths.
  • Pilot: Same as NAOO. Only unmarried candidates eligible.
  • Logistics: BE/B.Tech in any discipline with First Class or MBA/PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • Information Technology (IT): BE/B.Tech in Computer Science/IT, M.Tech (CS), MCA, or MSc (IT/CS) with minimum 60%.

Technical Branch:

  • Engineering: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, Naval Architecture, etc.
  • Electrical: BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Power, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, etc.

Education Branch:

  • MSc in Physics/Maths/Chemistry/Computer Science/IT or BE/B.Tech in relevant streams with minimum 60%.

Note: Final year students may apply if they can submit proof of passing by the time of joining.

The selection process for Indian Navy SSC Officers is merit-based and includes the following stages:

1. Shortlisting for SSB Interview

  • Based on normalized marks (for BE/B.Tech) or percentage (for PG degree holders).
  • The shortlisting is done branch-wise and gender-wise.

2. SSB Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for SSB Interview at:
  • Bangalore
  • Bhopal
  • Kolkata
  • Visakhapatnam

SSB Interview Process Includes:

  • Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) + Picture Perception & Description Test (PP\&DT)
  • Stage II: Psychology Test, Group Task, Personal Interview

Candidates who qualify Stage I proceed to Stage II; others are sent back on the same day.

3. Medical Examination

  • Recommended candidates will undergo a medical test as per Navy standards.
  • Candidates for Pilot and NAOO will undergo Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) in addition.

4. Final Merit List

  • Prepared based on SSB performance and medical fitness.
  • Joining letters issued to candidates selected for various branches.
  • Initial Commission: 10 years (Short Service)
  • Extension: Up to 4 additional years (based on merit, vacancy, and service requirement)
  • Selected candidates will undergo 22 weeks of Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala.
  • Probation period: 2 years from the date of joining.
