Overview & Background(DEE)
The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE), Assam has published a recruitment drive for 228 Special Educator positions to improve elementary education across the state. These roles are divided between:
- 120 posts for Lower Primary (LP) Schools

Vacancy Details & Pay Structure(DEE)
Lower Primary (LP) – 120 Posts
- Qualification: Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with ≥50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) from RCI, and a valid ATET/CTET certificate.
- Pay Band: PB-2 (₹14,000–₹70,000) + Grade Pay ₹7,400.
Upper Primary (UP) – 108 Posts
- Qualification: Graduate with ≥50% marks + B.Ed. (Special Education) from an RCI-recognized institution, plus ATET/CTET.
- Pay Band: PB-2 (₹14,000–₹70,000) + Grade Pay ₹8,700.
Eligibility Criteria(DEE)
Age Limit (as of 1 August 2025):
- Unreserved: 18–40 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Up to 42 years
- OBC/MOBC: Up to 43 years
- SC/ST(P)/ST(H): Up to 45 years
- Persons with Disability (PwD): Up to 50 years
Citizenship & Residency:
- Must be an Indian citizen (Articles 5–8, Constitution) and a permanent resident of Assam.
Small Family Norms:
- Candidates having more than two living children (from 1 Jan 2021 onward) are not eligible, as per Assam government policy. A declaration must be submitted.
Educational Qualifications & Medium Requirement(DEE)
Lower Primary (LP):
- Senior Secondary (≥50%) + 2-year Diploma in Special Education (RCI) + ATET/CTET.
- Graduation with Diploma also accepted for LP, though no additional marking.
Upper Primary (UP):
- Graduate (≥50%) + B.Ed. (Special Education, RCI) + ATET/CTET.
Medium of Instruction:
- Candidates’ Language-I or Language-II in ATET/CTET must match the school’s medium where they wish to apply.

Selection & Reservation Details
- District-wise and category-wise roster (OBC/MOBC/SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/PwD/Women/Ex-Servicemen) will be published after official approvals. Vacancies may vary due to administrative updates.
- Separate merit lists will be maintained per district and category.
- Flexibility in recruitment process, including cancellation or postponement, is reserved by DEE Assam. Application belongs to one specific ATET/CTET roll number only.
