NORCET‑9 stands for the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test, conducted by AIIMS New Delhi. It serves as a merit-based entrance for selecting Nursing Officers across AIIMS institutes nationwide. The 2025 exam aims to fill approximately 3,500 vacancies across 26 AIIMS institutions

  • Notification release & online application start: 22–23 July 2025
  • Application deadline: 11 August 2025 (by 5 PM)
  • NORCET‑9 Prelims: 14 September 2025 (Sunday)
  • NORCET‑9 Mains: 27 September 2025
  • Prelims result: expected by 4 October 2025

Age Limit

  • Minimum: 18 years; Maximum: 30 years as of 11 August 2025
  • Age relaxation: SC/ST (5 yrs), OBC (3 yrs), PwBD and combined categories as prescribed, and 5 years for Ex‑servicemen

Educational Qualification

  • Option 1: B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc Nursing or Post-Basic B.Sc from INC/State Nursing Council recognized institutions – must be registered as Nurse & Midwife with INC or State Council.
  • Option 2: Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) + registration + at least 2 years’ experience in a 50‑bed hospital post-qualification
  1. Visit aiimsexams.ac.in and click on the latest “Recruitment” or “NORCET‑9” section.
  2. Complete the New Registration with basic details.
  3. Log in and fill the application form, including education, preference of exam center, etc.
  4. Upload scanned passport photo and signature as per specifications.
  5. Pay the fee online:
  • General/OBC: ₹3,000
  • SC/ST/EWS: ₹2,400
  • PwBD: Exempted

Stage I – Prelims (90 minutes, 100 MCQs):

  • Qualifying in nature; marks are not counted toward final merit, but minimum cut-off applies

Stage II – Mains (180 minutes, 160 MCQs):

  • Scores are counted for the final merit list

Post-Exams:

  • Document Verification: Original certificates for age, qualification, registration, category, experience, etc.
  • Medical Examination: Ensure candidates meet physical & mental fitness standards.

Prelims (100 MCQs):

  • Topics cover General Aptitude (reasoning, general knowledge, current affairs) and Nursing Aptitude (basic nursing principles and clinical scenarios)

Mains (160 MCQs):

  • Technical and professional subjects from B.Sc or Diploma Nursing curriculum—covering community health, mental health, pediatric, medical-surgical, OBG, administration, pharmacology, etc.

Marking scheme:

  • +1 for each correct answer, −⅓ mark for each wrong response
  • Pay Scale: Level 7 Pay Matrix, pre-revised Pay Band-2 (₹9,300–34,800) with Grade Pay ₹4,600
  • Roles include patient care, administering medications, emergency duties, health education, liaising with doctors, record-keeping—all crucial in tertiary health setups.
  • Understand the syllabus and pattern thoroughly—allocate time proportionately between prelims and mains topics.
  • Prepare notes & charts: Memory aids for technical content like drug categories, protocols, and ethics.
  • Practice previous years’ papers (NORCET 6, 7, 8) — many are memory-based and reflect actual question styles
  • Mock tests build speed and accuracy; simulate exam conditions (time-bound, no interruptions).
  • Revise systematically with emphasis on weak areas, current affairs, and general aptitude questions.
