The NEC Merit Scholarship is a centrally funded initiative by the North Eastern Council (NEC) under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India. It is designed to support meritorious students from the North Eastern Region (NER) pursuing higher education across India

SBI Clerk Recruitment 2025 – Apply Online for 6,589 Junior Associate Posts:

  1. Domicile: Must be a permanent resident of one of the eight North Eastern states
  2. Course Level: Enrollment in a recognized Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. program (under recognized institutions/universities)
  3. Academic Performance: Minimum 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination:
    • Diploma: HSLC/HSSLC
    • Degree: HSSLC
    • PG: Undergraduate degree
    • M.Phil./Ph.D.: Postgraduate degree
  4. Family Income: Annual income must not exceed ₹8,00,000
  5. No Concurrent Scholarships: Applicants should not be receiving any other scholarship or be employed/sponsored .

Ensure you have the following scanned and legible:

  1. Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by Deputy Commissioner/Addl. DC/Sub-divisional Officer of your state (or COI for Sikkim)
  2. Income Certificate from a competent authority
  3. Bank Passbook (account in the applicant’s name) for DBT disbursement
  4. Mark Sheets & Certificates of qualifying examination (HSLC, HSSLC, UG/PG)
  5. Synopsis for M.Phil./Ph.D. applicants, duly signed by the Project Guide or authorized authority

Selection Criteria

  • Based solely on merit—marks obtained in the qualifying exams (and topic relevance for M.Phil./Ph.D.)
  • No reservations based on category, religion, or gender .
  • In case of tie scores, lower family income gives preference .

  • Scholarship can be renewed for subsequent years if:
    • You are promoted to next year without backlog.
    • Renewals must be applied via NSP annually.
    • Changing courses/institutions or failing academic requirements leads to disqualification.
