The NMMS Exam 2025 is for Class 8 students of government or aided schools with annual family income below ₹3.5 lakh. Students must have scored at least 55% (50% for SC/ST). Apply online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by filling the form, uploading documents, and verifying through school authorities.

  • Academic qualification
  • Must be entering Class 9, studying in a government, government‑aided, or local body school.
  • Secured at least 55% in Class 7 (relaxable to 50% for SC/ST) to appear in exam
  • To continue the scholarship till Class 12, must score 60% in Class 10 (or 55% for SC/ST) and pass each class in the first attempt
  • Income requirement
  • Annual family income ≤ ₹3.5 lakh from all sources
  • Not eligible if studying in:
  • Private schools
  • Kendriya/Vidyalaya Jawahar/Navodaya or Sainik schools or other residential institutions funded by central/state government

  1. NSP One‑Time Registration (OTR)
  • Visit the National Scholarship Portal and complete the OTR using Aadhaar details. This generates a 14-digit OTR ID
  1. NMMS Registration
  • Log in to NSP, select “Apply for Scholarship,” and choose NMMS ✏️.
  • Fill in details: personal info, Aadhaar, bank, school, etc.
  1. Document upload
  • Income certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), bank details, marksheet of Class 7/8, and passport‑size photo.
  • No fee on most states; where applicable, payment can be made via UPI/net-banking/Credit‑Debit cards
  1. School & State verification
  • Submit online and/or hard copy to school for verification. The school forwards to state nodal office. (Timeline varies by state; generally July–Aug/Sept)
  1. State-level NMMS exam
  • Offline exam (Class 8-level MAT + SAT), usually held around December 2025
  • Each paper: 90 MCQs in 90 minutes; must score ≥40% (relaxable to 32% for SC/ST) in each section
  1. Result & Scholarship disbursement
  • Selected students (up to 100,000 annually) receive ₹12,000 per annum (₹1,000/month) from Class 9 to 12 via bank transfer
  • NSP registration + NMMS application: Open July–August 2025, state-dependent deadlines (e.g., Assam till Aug 30)
  • Exam date: Usually in December 2025 (e.g., 20 Dec. for several states)
